Opening Ceremony of the OMIC at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University -
A Fresh Start to Global Interdisciplinary Oral Medicine
On September 21st 2023, the opening ceremony of the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) Oral Medicine Innovation Center (OMIC) took place at the NYCU College of Dentistry. President of the NYCU, Prof. Chi-Hung Lin, Vice President Tzu-Hao Cheng, Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Yong-Sheng Chen, Chief of Department of Stomatology, Taipei Veteran General Hospital, Prof. Yu-Lin Lai, the representative from the Dental Alumni Association, Dr. Sheng-Fang Pai, the members of OMIC Advisory Committee, Chair Professor Dar-Bin Shieh of School of Dentistry, National Cheng Kung University, and Prof. Jen Chan, ex-Dean of College of Biomedical Science and Engineering NYCU, Dean of the College of Dentistry, Prof. Shou-Yen Kao, the Director of the OMIC, Distinguished Prof. Shyh-Yuan Lee, and Vice Dean of the College of Dentistry, Prof. Shan-Ling Hung, officially announced the commencement of the center with distinguished guests. The first international symposium of the OMIC is held following the ceremony, with the participation of international and domestic experts, including Vice Dean Prof. Guang Hong from the Graduate School of Dentistry at Tohoku University, and distinguished speakers from academia and industry who specialize in precision medicine, digital technology, biomedical engineering, and global collaboration on dental research and education. Through the advantages of clinical services and technological innovation of NYCU and its strength in industry collaboration, the cross-talk among interdisciplinary experts set a fresh start for oral medicine R&D innovation toward the world.
